AcuMax
Generalities
The AcuMax Index (sometimes referred to as AI) was devised by Jay Hawreluk at the end of the 1990s. The company AcuMax, which publishes and distributes the Acumax Index, is based in Dearborn, Michigan.
Assessment
The assessment format is an adjective list with two questions, one about oneself and the other about adapting to the environment. The result is four core factors called A, B, C, D, with two profiles referred to as the “Natural Self” and “Adjusted Self”. It also includes measures of a person’s engagement and response Level (RL). There is no combined profile of the natural and adjusted selves, as found in other comparable systems.
Although the two profiles are shared with participants and users of the platform, the results are primarily reports on topics such as hiring, onboarding, motivating, productivity, engaging, or analyzing adaptation. The four dimensions being assessed are presented as measuring the intensity of key drives. They are summarized in the table below.
Dimension | Description | GRI a priori |
---|---|---|
A Drive | Idea Flow. How to be engaged with an idea. Low side: thriving on collaboration and team input. High side: being assertive and preferring autonomy. | Low 1, High 1 |
B Drive | Communication Style. How to successfully process thought. | Low 2, High 2 |
C Drive | Decision-Making Speed. Timing to make the decision. | Low 3, High 3 |
D Drive | Information Needs. How much information is really desired. | Low 4, High 4 |
Usage
Other assessment tools are used by AcuMax to assess job and team demand, compare profiles, and generate reports on job and team fits. The publisher proposes the system for recruitment, coaching, leadership, and organizational development. The training happens through consulting. The offering is packaged with a suite of solutions and by categories of usage (hiring team dynamics, top performers, etc.)
Comments
The system's origin traces back to the Predictive Index, but it differs in how results are presented, analyzed, and how the system is deployed within organizations. The system is sold via a monthly subscription, with prices depending on the features and additional products included, such as cognitive assessments or 360-degree evaluations, along with consulting fees that are charged separately.
